I was born in New York city in 1975, but did most of my growing up in an affluent suburb of Detroit, MI, called Bloomfield Hills. I became interested in the occult and esoteric spirituality in my early teens because I was desperate to discover that there was more to life than simply being rich, comfortable, and happy…

Along the way during my late teens, I was lucky enough to become involved in Detroit's underground techno scene at a creative and powerful time when DJ Richie Hawtin's legendary parties where regularly catalyzing collective experiences of higher consciousness.

By the end of my college years, I realized that the answers to the mysteries of existence were not to be found anywhere in the social sciences, which lead me full circle back to my passion for the spiritual life. But I also realized that there was a big difference between what was True, and what I wanted to be true, and that unless I could discriminate between the two, I would never be able to know God.

After I came to this conclusion, the work of spiritual teacher Andrew Cohen suddenly became incredibly compelling to me, as he spoke directly to this mysterious passion that wanted both objectivity and divinity, and refused to compromise on either. I moved to Boston in 1998 to be closer to and observe communities of his students that were endeavoring to be examples of how people could live together in a culture based on higher principles.

I began to travel around the world to attend retreats with Andrew, and also to spend time with other communities of his. In order to support my globe-trotting, I changed careers from the social work field into sales and business development in the corporate arena. Years of “soft” people skills translated beautifully and I began a new professional life as a high performing account executive, most recently in the market intelligence industry.

But what has been the core of my life is the revelation of Andrew Cohen's teachings of Evolutionary Enlightenment, which is that the spiritual impulse, the desire to know and become more that has been driving me since childhood, is not separate from the very same force that is pushing life forwards, it's the fire of evolution itself. As confusing and unstable as the world is, from the perspective of the Big Bang, there is a process that has been developing with directionality…From nothing to light, to matter, to life, to mind, to consciousness…A lot has gone down in the past 14 billion years!!!

I'm currently part of the core team of the Boston center of EnlightenNext, Andrew Cohen's international organization committed to help catalyze the shift in consciousness and culture that so many of us realize is so desperately needed if we are to effectively respond to the immense challenges our world faces today. I think the answers to our problems are both deeply human, completely outrageous, and will emerge from the creative friction between us. I welcome your responses.
